This three level listening course is grounded in the theory that learners are more successful listeners when they activate their prior knowledge of a topic. Thus, through a careful balance of activities, students are given a frame of reference to make predictions about what they will hear, listen for main ideas and details, and the apply the inferences they've made through conversation with classmates. Short exercises in reading, writing, and speaking promote further skill building skills with an emphasis on listening.
