English for Everyday Activities
English for Everyday Activities(EEA) helps beginner ESL students learn the skills they need to communicate the step-by-step aspects of daily occurrences. Unlike most picture dictionaries, this is an integrated series that uses a student text with clear and colourful pictorial detail as a starting point and focuses on the specific processes involved in everyday activities such as waking up, riding a bus, playing CDs, and using an ATM. It is a vibrant classroom resource, highly suitable for home study, and also helpful to more advanced learners. Each of the components of EEA should be used to maximize effectiveness.
Features
This user-friendly main text focuses on what people do and links the activities to what people and things are and the circumstances in which actions take place. Features include key vocabulary sideboards in every unit, a detailed index for every key term, usage notes, guides to use of main verb tenses, and helpful appendixes. It is highly versatile, allowing students the capability to move with ease from ideas to words or from words to ideas. The audio CD contains captions and dialog in text from each picture in the main text. "Why pictures? " - Because there's no clearer path to vocabulary learning and retention. And full color makes it even better. "Why processes? " - Because the language of processes is the language of life. What better way to encounter the most useful English words, especially verbs? "Just another picture dictionary?" - No way. Traditional picture dictionaries are full of static, noun-heavy displays. EEA is active and verb-rich, at the frontier of picture-dictionary development.
