NEW Citizenship: Success At You CIS Interview
CITIZENSHIP: SUCCESS AT YOUR CIS INTERVIEW
Practical, Realistic, and Easy to Understand
Beginning Level
This video and audio program prepares the applicant to be successful on all three parts of the CIS interview. Obtaining citizenship is not an easy process, and these materials are designed by experienced professionals for use in the classroom or by individual applicants preparing for the CIS interview.
VIDEO COMPONENTS
Video
The video provides a comprehensive overview of the interview process—from entering the waiting room and initial greeting to completing the interview. The video contains over 20 dramatized interview segments with a realistic CIS examiner. Applicants are given actual practice on answering oral questions taken from all parts of the N-400 application. The video covers the following eight major interview sections:- Personal Information
- Residence
- Work
- Absences, Trips out of the United States
- Family
- Memberships/Moral Character
- Taxes and Arrests
- Allegiance to the United States
Sample dialogues of each interview segment are presented and followed by “It’s Your Turn” segments that ask the applicant to respond with personal information. Examples of legal eligibility requirements and restrictions are also presented.
In addition, the video provides two practice interviews with examples from the NEW USCIS list of 100 government and history questions (in use after Oct. 1, 2008). Also featured: sample dictation practice, tips on your appearance and presentation, dialogue techniques and what to expect during interviews.
Video Workbook
The video workbook contains a written script of the video that gives applicants the option to read along in English while viewing. The video workbook allows applicants to log their written responses to the dialogues and dictation presented in the video and, thereby, creates a handy reference tool for interview preparation.
AUDIO COMPONENTS
Audio CD
The audio CD is designed to complement the video series above, and can also be used as a stand–alone resource for independent study. Part one features the NEW CIS list of 100 government and history questions sorted by topic and placed in a logical order to make it easy for any applicant to learn and remember the information. Part two transforms the CIS N-400 application into a question and answer format.
Audio Workbook
The audio workbook contains a written script of the audio CD that gives applicants the option to read along in English while listening. The audio workbook allows applicants to log their written responses to the dialogues and dictation presented on the CD. There are 140 sample sentences for dictation.
SPANISH VERSION
New video and audio (2006) resources with the same title in Spanish, have been added to help serve immigrants over 50 or 55 who have been permanent residents for over 20 or 15 years respectively and who then qualify to take their interview in their first language. Large lettering on screen and slow delivery of the 96 government and history questions help lower literacy immigrants prepare for their interview.
